It is part of the province of Olbia – Tempio Arzachena, the administrative capital of Costa Smeralda. Renowned for its territory, which hosts the most sought after holiday spots, Arzachena's distinctive symbol is a curious rock, eroded into a mushroom shape; the city boasts a prestigious archaeological heritage, and a coastline that extends for 125km.
Among the archaeological sites to visit in Arzachena, there are the Nuraghe Albucciu, complex construction in which there are elements attributable to Nuragic architecture; from here, continuing along a small road, you will find the Temple of Malchitto: unique nuragic construction in Sardinia, vaguely oval in shape. Continuing towards Luogosanto, you will arrive at 3 other noteworthy archaeological sites: the Tomb of the giants of Coddu vecchiu, the Li Lolghi's Tomb of the Giants, and the Li Muri necropolis.
Another obligatory stop when visiting Arzachena, they are the churches of the city: the Church of Santa Lucia, which stands in the upper part of the town, it can be reached thanks to a suggestive staircase, and from the square in front of the Church, you can admire the surrounding landscape. In the historic center of the city instead, you can admire the Church of Santa Maria della Neve: built in 1776 at the request of Carlo Emanuele III, inside it houses a refined wooden altar, and a carving depicting the Virgin breastfeeding the Child. Existing since 1776, then demolished and rebuilt on adjacent land, it is instead the Church of Saint Peter (Saint Peter), which houses inside a polychrome statue of St. Peter sitting in the chair, named by the inhabitants “;Santu Petru in catrea”;; finally, not far from Arzachena, there are other typical and spartan country churches.
